RSH was selected to perform conceptual and schematic design services for the 2,500 acre Cachuma Lake Fireside Amphitheater Renovation. The project involces the demolition and reconstruction of the existing stage, backdrop and seating areas in the same footprint. Installation of improved ADA accessibility and seating, railings, lights, campfire-pit and equipment booth would be added. Minor grading, trenching and site work will occur to accomodate the renovated facilities and Minor landscape improvements will be made to the existing mature landscaping protected in-place.
By renovating the outdoor Fireside Amiphitheater, the park will offer additional opportunities for discovery through education, promoting appreciation of the park and its natural resources, thus inspiring environmental stewardship.
The existing amphitheater, originally designed and built in the mid 1950’s is run down due to age, weathering and use. The stage and backdrop are made from old wood and other materials in need of reconstruction.
The project is nicknamed “Santa Barbara Bowls little sister” since this is where we drew inspiration from.
Our design is focused on creating continuity throughout Santa Barbara County through architectural aesthetics and design elements. The shade structure’s design is inspired from the Hook’d Bar & Grill near the Lake Cachuma campsite which RSH was also the Architect of Record.
