Why Herman Architects?

Herman Architects strives to be known for the strength of our ideas, and the quality of our solutions. We are committed to provide architecture services that enhance our client’s vision, while striving to maximize the use of the construction budget. This is achieved in part by establishing a clearly defined vision of the project goals at the beginning of the design phase, which allows the design team to set program and building requirements early on and evaluate all design and cost decisions against them as the project design progresses.

Our Philosophy

From Master Planning, Programming to Building Design, our design seeks to tell the unique story and function of each building. We are experienced in the assessment of project needs and the development of the design and documentation for all building types. Working with clients, our firm builds upon our knowledge of what makes each facility special, projecting the function, purpose, and sustainability to further our client’s vision. Our service reflects our commitment and dedication to our staff, client, and profession to promote the development of technical skills, professional knowledge, and a collaborative environment.

Incorporated in 1988, Herman Architects is a solution-based architecture firm with its office in Los Angeles, California. For over thirty-five years, we have program, planned, design, and built more than ten million square feet of institutional space, including civic centers, commercial, residential, administrative complexes, education, and industrial facilities. Our diverse work has enabled us to develop an in-depth understanding of the operational, political, and business issues facing today’s community from technology and connectivity, to security, paths of travel, and implementation.

Our company is named after our founder, Richard Herman, an architect who specializes in designing and restoring historic projects including the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood, California, after the Northridge earthquake. His son, John Herman, current Managing Partner, has said about his father, “His passion paired with his design talent helped restore and transform Los Angeles into a 21st century city.”
